"Strapi Cloud abstracted the complexity of managing our infrastructure so that we could focus on what matters most: providing our users with opinions based on reliable and scientifically sourced information. Its unique Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) hosting also gives us the freedom and flexibility to fully customize and compose our technical stack which would have been tricky on a SaaS platform!"

Taking Yuka’s mobile App Global
Yuka, a mobile application for evaluating food and cosmetic products, boasting nearly 50 million users across 12 countries (in Europe, North America, and Australia), has recently integrated Strapi, the leading open-source headless CMS, to enhance its backend management. This decision aimed to improve the management of food additive detection criteria, cosmetic ingredients, and Yuka's entire scientific knowledge base.
With an ever-increasing volume of data and the need to maintain a rigorous and up-to-date scientific base, Yuka was looking for a flexible, efficient, and accessible content management solution to manage this constantly evolving information. The primary requirement was to find a platform that could be quickly implemented by developers and easily used by the entire team regardless of their technical background.

Fully managed hosting without customization constraints
Strapi Cloud offers a unique Platform as a Service (PaaS) solution distinct from typical Software as a Service (SaaS) Headless CMS. On top of providing a Strapi-optimized stack including database, email provider, and CDN (Content Delivery Network) out of the box, Strapi Cloud gave Yuka the flexibility to customize its infrastructure to suit specific project needs, including the ability to integrate custom plugins and APIs. This enables Yuka developers to maintain control over their development environment, optimizing for both functionality and performance.
Strapi Cloud simplifies operations by managing infrastructure tasks such as CDN caching, backups, and scalability—features that automatically adjust resources to handle increased loads without user intervention. It was the ideal choice for the Yuka team looking to future-proof their application architecture and grow efficiently.

Structured content increased efficiency and data governance
With its granular Role Based Access Control system, Strapi also helped strengthen the security and governance of Yuka’s data model. This is a key component to improve the collaboration with Yuka's toxicologists who continuously provide updated scientific opinions to enhance the reliability, transparency, and trust in Yuka's rating system.
Adopting Strapi has led to notable improvements in the content management of the criteria that make Yuka’s product detection and analysis data model. These content modeling capabilities and intuitive user interface provided a flexible solution which also increased the velocity of content updates in the mobile application.
The ease of setting up connectors through the API has also been a key factor in the increased efficiency of Yuka's technical team
