Looking Back at an Incredible Year

Firstly, to you, who’s been using Strapi — thank you! Your unwavering support has allowed us to accomplish the goals we set out for this year. 5.5 million NPM downloads, 65k GitHub stars, and a thriving Discord community with over 22.6k members – it's all thanks to the incredible support and feedback from our amazing community. We feel incredibly fortunate to have such an awesome community, and we can’t wait to continue shipping new features for you next year!

From the release of Strapi 5 to introducing features like Releases, Scheduling, and Cloud CLI, 2024 has been all about empowering developers like you. We also achieved significant milestones in security, with SOC2® Type 2 Certification, and performance improvements in Strapi Cloud.

As we close out the year, we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together and even more excited about what’s to come. Here's a look back at the highlights of this exciting year:

1. Strapi 5: Our Biggest Release Yet

On September 23rd, we officially launched Strapi 5, the most advanced and developer-friendly version of our CMS to date. Packed with features that improve performance, customization, and developer experience, Strapi 5 has taken content management to the next level. Highlights include:

• Draft & Publish + Content History: Enhanced content management workflows for teams.
• Cleaner APIs & New Plugin SDK: Simplifying development workflows.
• Faster Builds: Thanks to Vite and TypeScript integration.

The release marked a major milestone, bringing Strapi to new heights and reinforcing our commitment to empowering developers worldwide.

2. Strapi Cloud Momentum

Strapi Cloud had a banner year with updates that enhanced performance, security, and user experience:

• Multi-Environment Support: Empowering flexible deployments for Strapi Cloud.
• Cloud CLI: A streamlined way to deploy projects directly from the terminal.
• Faster Deployments: Cutting deployment times by over 50%, from 7 minutes to just 3.

These improvements ensure developers can deploy, manage, and scale their projects faster and with greater confidence.

3. Community: Stronger Than Ever

Lastly, our favourite achievement of all—Our open-source community remains at the heart of everything we do. None of this would be possible without you and this year, you showed up in a big way:

• 200+ Community Contributions: From features to bug fixes, the open-source spirit remains strong in our ecosystem.
• 40+ New Plugins: Pushing the Strapi Marketplace, which now includes 200+ plugins, to new heights so you can extend Strapi's flexibility to build apps and websites faster.
• Partners Across 6 Continents: This year, we expanded the capabilities of our partner network, empowering a wide variety of use cases with services ranging from custom integrations to advanced consulting.
• Our First Enterprise-Level Partner: A special shoutout to Successive Digital, who joined as our first enterprise-level partner, enabling Strapi adoption for even the most complex enterprise needs.

• Strapi 5 General Availability — The big moment! Strapi 5 went live with groundbreaking improvements for developers and content teams like Draft & Publish, Content History, 100% TypeScript, Vite Bundling, Plugin CLI and the new Document Service API - with a cleaner API Format.

November 2024

• Releases x Review Workflows — Automated content approvals for confident and streamlined workflows.
• New Cloud Regions — Strapi Cloud expanded with new data regions in Singapore and Australia.
• Enhanced CLI Commands — New commands for listing and linking environments simplify cloud management.

December 2024

• Static Preview — Preview your content before publishing—available for free on all plans.
• Growth Plan — A new plan designed for growing teams, offering advanced collaboration and publishing tools for $15/month per seat.
