🎉 Celebrating 10 Years of Strapi Together — Thank You for Building With Us
Back in 2015, Strapi started as a scrappy side project to Bootstrap your API (yep, that’s where the name comes from 🙃). Fast-forward to today: Strapi has grown into the most popular open-source headless CMS, with 20M+ downloads, almost 70K GitHub stars, and production deployments in 3K+ companies, from startups like PostHog and CodeRabbit to global enterprises like Amazon and Airbus.
What was once a side project has grown into a global community of thousands of contributors worldwide. You’ve built all kinds of websites, apps, and plugins, and even entire businesses on Strapi. You’ve helped fix bugs, improved documentation, and supported newcomers. This isn’t just a CMS; it’s a global community of builders, and we’re beyond grateful.
To everyone who starred the repo, opened an issue, built a plugin, or just convinced their boss to use Strapi: thank you. You’re the reason this little project became what it is today.
🚀 Looking back: A Decade of Code, Commits, and Contributions
The road hasn’t always been easy, but every challenge has shaped who we are today. We’ve learned, adapted, and continued to build a sustainable company and open-source project. Looking back, we’re proud of what we’ve achieved together!
With Strapi 5, we’ve shipped major content management features such as Conditional Fields, Live Preview, and Content History, but also completed a significant architectural refactoring (hello TypeScript and Vite) to boost performance, scalability, and developer experience!
On the Cloud side, we’ve shipped many of the improvements you requested. There’s now a Free Tier, making it easier to spin up side projects or prototypes without cost. You can choose regions for faster performance, manage multiple environments, and download or restore backups directly. We have also added project ownership transfers, allowing you to securely hand over projects without needing to open a support ticket. Usage alerts help you stay within limits, and a Cloud CLI provides more control directly from your terminal.
🔮 Looking ahead: Leaning into Vibe Coding and AI-powered Content Management
As you may know from the StrapiConf keynote or public roadmap, we’ve also been working on some major AI updates that will change the way you build with Strapi. From smarter automation and productivity boosts to fresh improvements in developer experience and cloud capabilities, new features are just around the corner. We can’t share everything yet, but trust us, it’s going to make building websites and apps faster, more intuitive, and a lot more fun. Stay tuned.
In the meantime, we would love to gain a deeper understanding of what you love about Strapi and what needs attention. Here is a 5-minute survey to share your feedback 🙏 🙏
Your feedback will directly shape what we build, from features, to docs, to community programs.
